Stick with the 4's and try 4 inches.

It all depends on the sensitivity of the rig you want to create. The essence of the lift method is that virtually all the weight of the shot is counterbalanced by the float upon a fish taking in the bait. Therefore, dont be scared that the fish will feel the resistance of the shot as there is virtually non. Dont use ANY shot around the float; contrary to what many people think, the shot around the float makes the rig both less sensitive and creates more resistance.

I normally fish between 2 and 4 inches, with 3-4 being normal.... and its the best method going!

I agree with Dan, don't be worried about placing an SSG as close as 2" from the hook, if the fish are 'on' they'll take it, if not, try moving it away from the hook, a little at a time, I use 6" as a maximum..

Can you see the fish?
