Hidden away in Angling Times, there are three column inches, amongst lots of big colourful pictures, telling us that there is going to be 'One voice for angling'. Well, if I believe what I'm told we already have that, namely the very low key National Angling Alliance, the NAA.

But there is more! Apparently 'the Angling Unity Group (who?) has made tremendous progress and reached agreement on the form of the new organisation'. So what's it to be this time fellas?

So keep this up and we shall have three or four or more fully representative national bodies for angling. Hopefully the NAA will eventually amalgamate with this yet another new body that seems blissfully unaware that the NAA is already, alegedly, up and running.

But there is more! Apperently 'the new cross-discipline governing body would be created to represent angling at the highest level, effectively amalgamating several existing groups into one, including the NFA, STA, NFSA and Moran Committee'.

Please note 'several' rather than all. Please note no mention of the SAA or the CA for example. So several implies that several have been missed out. What do they do? Form yet another 'governing' body?

Excuse me for being negative and cynical, but haven't we heard it all before? If the NAA still exists will it stand aside for this new body?

Just who is involved in this new super body? Will it really represent us? You and me, the guys on the bank, the ordinary non specialist, non match fishing angler, will we be part of this yet another new set-up?

Here we go again!
I'm with you on this one Peter, I know we should be united, that way we fight any threats together, but it just isn't happening and frankly I don't hold out much hope of it ever happening until our sport is threatened directly.

So to all you budding 'one size fits all' organisers out there... go join one of the existing groups. There are plenty to choose from.
