When I was running Cobbleacre the lads using small Ide deadbaits for Big perch on the roadside would often be plagued by Carp,The lake record Carp was caught on one at 19lb!

Carp will also regularly gourge themselves on fry in the reeds etc just after spawning in the spring

I can remember The Doc (Bruno) telling me that ya calnt beat a hair rigged whitebait in the spring!

King nuisance fish

Bloke fishing near me caught a 20 'scraper'(!) nuisance carp on a smelt. And I've had a carp on a scrum-frog plug! Blessed easy fish to catch!

I've often posted here that carp are a flaming pest on deadbaits on many waters that I fish for perch and chub. I often have to use 5"+ deadbaits to avoid the carp, and even then I still catch a few!

I've also posted several times that if I had to fish a commercial water for carp then I'd undoubtedly choose deadbaits as my no.1 offering. Yes, they're that good!

Whitebait would be my first choice. You'll find more information on whitebait if you use the search facility at the top of the page.

I was told a long time ago by an eel angler that roach heads were the best deads for carp.
