But could you get a new Harrison rod for £5.20 or any of the other prizes ?
This is not about the winning but the contributing. Thankyou Elton ! [ 01. February 2005, 10:32 PM: Message edited by: Andy Thatcher ] -------------------- Cheers

no its about winning otherwise why the need for a raffle ,i think with all the money raised we now own all the countries involved on a word of warning though beware of money raising i heard on telly that without being a charity yourself it can be construed as income (whatever the good cause) if the raiser is taxable

QUOTE chesters1: You seem pretty big on Winston Spencer Churchill, chesters1.no its about winning otherwise why the need for a raffle ,i think with all the money raised we now own all the countries involved As someone who was once fortunate (and honoured) to travel overseas in the great (though, far from perfect) man's footsteps - well, in his spirit, at least - as a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travelling Fellow - for my Angling efforts and Travel Writing, I can tell you that his successors today care little about who just OWNS what on our slightly shaky planet nowadays. Catch this site (you might even apply for a Fellowship, though, I warn you, the competition and the vetting process is pretty intense)... http://www.wcmt.org.uk/ You might even consider these words from the old fella: "With opportunities comes responsibility." Enough said.
You have just hoisted yourself on your own horribly small, undeniably prejudiced petard, there, ches'. I'd wish you the best, but suddenly find myself lacking the wherewithal, the inclination and the energy. I am sure you'll understand. Stay safe, though. And, of course, stay small, as ever. so you lost then
nothing i have said is untrue and using a persons name to foist some aspect unrelated to him is exploitation in the extreme ,churchill in most of his positions spent his time defendingus against johny foreigner nothing else ,after the war he was dropped like a stone ,he was exploited as is everyone ,the site you recomend can nowadays be open to racial stereotypes itself as the only people who can "join" are british ,not such a clever thing nowadays seing that Churchill himself was half american [ 01. Never one to be rude (though, my word, when I AM...), I believe that the tablets (keep taking them, c') will do you (indeed, ALL of us) lots more good now than some cheesy WSC image superimposed upon a Union Flag.
May I suggest some further reading for you? No? But I will, nevertheless. Try that 'Halcyon English Days' author, P.G. Wodehouse. "What ho?" Bertie Wooster, don't ya know? Yes, the same. But ONE title of PGW's in his classic series... "The Code of the Woosters" There's a character in Wodehouse's marvellous 1930s country-house farce that you could probably relate to, ches': one, Roderick Spode. I'll say no more here, but leave you (and others, I hope) to the delights of the novel and the bully-boy Spode's devastating comeuppance (tip: 60th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz, this week...). Feel the lurve, ches', feel the lurve... PB [ 01. February 2005, 11:41 PM: Message edited by: Paul Boote ] -------------------- "What did you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window?
