My mate found this and I thought it was pretty original. I reckon with a wire twisting tool and some clear elastic, it could be improved upon but the idea is there.
What do you spoon experts think. I'm intrigued.

Its not unlike some of the lures and ideas kicking around in the 60's. Prob was that if a hook did catch on something it would then pull free and hang from a short trace making it more likely that the treble would really snarl up.

For a spoon the weedless Atom still takes some beating. Or a single circle hook.

Rapala weedless minnow spoons are amongst my favourites, and weedless abu atoms.

To make any spoon weedless, I simply remove the treble and replace it with a large single hook fitted with a 'wreck guard'

Might whip up a few big singles with some stiff mono.
The circle hooks seem to crop up a lot. Are they that good with regards to hookups??

Against all odds circle hooks are exceedingly good at hooking pike and not branches! They look as if though they would be the absolute dog's by-product but they work. Just don't strike! The hook does all the work for you, just tighten up.

Wouldnt pour poo on the idea Andy until you've tried it, but its 'adding' hardware instead of removing it, so dont be surprised if the problem doesnt go away. Might even get worse, but its worth a chuck or two ta see.
Best try circles. The hook point being inward, slides along underwater vegetation rather than digging in. I've got then on a few spoons and their legendary hook-up ability works just as well on pike too. Spoons or any long thin shape work particularly well since the hook point is not masked.
Lost your addess mate, pm me and I'll send you a couple of sizes to try.

You could also try doubles. I dont mean the VB 'back to back' doubles. I'm talking about the hooks that are more commonly known as frog hooks. I reckon they might be a revelation compared with a standard treble providing they are attached the right way up. I use them on soft rubber surface frogs. Never had a problem although with the soft lures the hook is shielded. Still worth a try. The ones I have are Owner from Harris.

The idea looks like a similar principle to the Dardevle Fishtrap spoon - I've never seen them in the UK though?

Peter - What size circle hooks are you using ?

Thanks
Steve

5/0 Steve. But 4/0 would probably be as good. I bought a load of 5/0 circle sea hooks from Harris and have been well pleased. Have a word with Argyll, he's the hook man, he really is.

Hi Peter, thanks for the feedback, have been meaning to give them a go but wasn't sure about the sizing. They looked like they would come up a bit smaller than normal hooks due to their shape.
I have also been meaning to try them on my Banjo Minnows as the standard hooks aren't too good.

Cheers
Steve
