Does anyone know if there is a liberty and livelihood march this year? Not that im interested in the hunting march at all, i seem to remember there was quite abit in the angling papers about it a few years back. or is there a angling march separate from it? just thought it might be quite important as huntings been shot down in flames, we dont want the P.E.T.A or any others to have a go at banning angling.
Also remember dont vote green party, even as a protest vote, apparently they are against angling! dave. |

As a socialist the majority of the Green Partys policies appeal to me. It's quite clear that they have targetted dissatisfied Labour voters with many former Labour members joining their ranks some of my former colleuges now number amongst their new recruits.
However I would urge anyone considering voting Green even if only as a protest vote NOT to do so as their policies towards angling come straight from the PETA 'guerilla' handbook. Even their spokesperson admits to not formulating their own policy mereley relying on PETA and Pisces to supply all their relevant information. I will be voting Labour again as I feel that even with all the disagreements I have with their policies that they represent best the things I would like to see achieved. If anyone is thinking of a protest vote then dont vote Green but vote for one of the other two mainstream parties as all three mainstream parties have advocated their support for angling |

Only David's second post! I wonder, who should we cue on that one ??
If I were not convinced that such a march is a smokescreen then I might just be tempted. But then I'm not convinced Yes, I will be voting for the future of angling at the next General Election, just as I will be voting for the future of Great Britain. I shall, despite everything else, still vote for Labour! I don't doubt that there will be some, less enlightened perhaps, who will disagree ! [ 07. If by Liberty he means accepting the majority decision of a demcratically elected house of commons, then by all means such a march should be rightly supported.
however i rather suspect this is more - "we reject the views of wider society in democratically outlawing something that we believe we have a human right to do. We have money and influence behind us and therefore we are above the law" ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz..... GB ps - anyone they catch fox hunting they shouldn't lock them up, but make them do community service instead - theres lots of places that need tidying up. a week picking up litter on the streets of handsworth, toxteth, moss-side or lewisham should learn them of our city ways. A couple of questions, chaps:
1. Who on this forum wouldn't march to show support for angling and why? 2. If angling was banned, how many would carry on doing it and why? Nailing my Realtree colours to the mast, I marched before and I'd certainly be there again if I thought it would do my sport any good. And, I'll be angling in some form or other until I die. No gung, no ho and definitely no revolting peasantry (leave it, Waller! )simply a law-abiding citizen fed-up with being dictated to by those running self-serving agendas based on media-hyped hysteria rather than fact. Have a think and a post and let's see what emerges, then. -------------------- And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.

I definitely wouldn't march in support of angling. You only have to read the posts on other website forums (not this one, we're far too polite on here) to realise that there are far too many thugs, idiots and downright unpleasant people involved in angling these days for it to be carried off with any hope of success. A march would present totally the wrong idea to the general public. Perhaps instead of a march we ought to descend upon the cities with bin liners and hold major litter clearing operations instead.

The idiots are far outnumbered by decent people, Peter. The marches I took part in went off with no trouble, despite the goading of various 'anti' factions along the route.
The day that I allow the potential actions of a tiny minority to prevent me doing what's right for my sport, is the day I give it all up - and that day will never dawn, mate. What about question 2, then? -------------------- And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.
