After catching a double figure carp(the one with all the scales)using double red maggott with my 6m pole, size 16 hook and number 10 elastic(I know you boys like details)I would like to learn more about these beautiful fish,can you recommend a good book for me to start with please.

Definitely the 'The Beekay Guide To Starting Carp Fishing' by Julian Cundiff
You can't go wrong with that and it is easy to follow.  And after a few more carp on the bank then go for the Angler's Mail Guide To Big Carp Fishing by Andy Little.
