When i go down the river i like to take worms...problem is digging them up gets a bit annoying

So where do you order them from , how much are they, and whats the best way to keep them

May be a bit annoying but it's a LOT cheaper. Over Xmas (because the ground was frozen) I bought a small tub of lobworms from my local tackle shop (Most tackle shops sell worms as they would maggots)- probably had 2-3 dozen worms in total in the container - cost? £1.70 for what would normally have been 5-10 mins of digging!

Keep worms cool (around 10ºC is ideal) keep them in shredded newspaper and moss and give them an occasional feed of mashed potato. Check regularly and remove any dead ones immediately and you should be able to keep them for several weeks.

Having assured me that they were all thoroughbreds and that the paperwork from the worm version of Tattersalls was 'in the post', I paid about 28p per worm at my local highwayman's shelter this morning. Which got me thinking. My garden isn't big enough to cope with digging (neither is my back) so I started looking at websites that describe DIY wormeries. Doesnt actually look too difficult and seems to take up so little room so I thought I'd give it a bash. Anyone got any tips for a budding worm farmer ?
