Just wondered what your reactions are with guests who upset you by doing things such as=
After you have gone to a great deal of effort in cooking a perfect dinner they ask for mayonaise. They want to switch the TV on to watch bloody sport. They arrive and are not hungry as they have just had a big breakfast Alan(nl) |

If one of my guests arrived and asked for the TV to be switched on, they would be unlucky. Although I used to make an exception for my Mum when she wanted to see the Queen's Christmas Speech but she got ragged by the rest of us for the rest of the day and evening. Christmas Day = NO TV!! It's a good time for talking and playing games, if you can't go fishing!! Mike |

Bloody great init? Look, I love cooking, have done for years - even if I say so meself I can create some pretty good stuff. So why, oh bloody why, do people sit down at my table, look at the food I have so lovingly prepared over the past three hours or so, say "Wow, this looks good" then ask for the bloody salt before they've even tasted the bloody stuff?
Makes me seethe mate... Roy ------------------ |

Do what I do - don't put salt or pepper on the table. I might be a difficult old bu. Thing, but like you, having cooked it I want them to taste it the way I want it. Salt is for cooking with not pouring over prepared food. Mike |

By the way, the old Memsahib reckons I'm getting more and more like Victor Meldrew as I get older. I don't belieeeeeeve it! Still seething mate, Roy |

If the chef's any good, you'll want to taste his or her creation. Yum, yum, Elton |

Makes me seethe mate... It's a genetic thing Roy. Some people taste salt in much lower concentrations than others (can taste about 100th the amount that you do) - oddly enough, those are the same folks who normally use lots of salt. If any of them have ever been to your house, they will know there isn't enough salt on the food to taste good. BTW -I'm one of those and the salt does not cover up the food taste for me. In fact, even well prepared food with too little salt is fairly tasteless - and for me, too little is actually quite a lot. I salt anything I didn't cook or that was cooked for a group. It enhances the favor. Getting upset about it does you no good. Just as well get upset with a visually impared person needing more light than you do or a hearing impaired person needing more volume than you to enjoy the radio. |
