I'm looking for a travel multipiece rod, 1.5-1.75lb.the only ones I can find are carp rods over 2.5 lbs. Harrisons make a good one but too epensive for me.
I travel around a lot and being in Prince Albert, I am never too far from a club water. Ron Thompson used to make a three piece one but I,m buggered if I can find it on the net. Suggestions please. |

You could use a multipiece spinning rod Like the Shimano Exage these will be in the lower test curves you mention, not ideal but a compromise.

I'm looking for the same thing and they are pretty thin on the ground. Fox do a 4-piece floater rod, but I *think* it's discontinued. Had a play with one once and it had an awfully floppy tip, not my thing at all, whether floater fishing or not.
I'm always raving about Daiwa Whisker (now Lochmor) travel spinning rods. I have the 9ft version and would like to get the 10ft - together, they would cover most of my coarse fishing needs (+ some sea), everything apart from light line float fishing. -------------------- Jack Pike Hunter Extraordinaire

The Shimano Exage rods are really nice kit, but be careful when casting especially with big lures as i lost the top three sections of mine in a big basin, snagged a bush on the cast, snapped the line, and the momentum of the cast fired the top three sections into the drink. gutted, but i now have a nice case for my pod.
The telescopic version that they do is very good same blanks as the multi piece my dad has a light weight one not sure what they go up to to but ideal holiday rod, i am taking my dads to the Gran Canaria for a spot of mullet fishing. anglingdirect.co.uk/catalog/ind...ath=318_336_411 |

Click through on the following link to find multipiece rods. Might not be exactly what you wanted, but theres a ten foot heavy spinning rod that might do the trick.

The Beastmaster, Exage, Maxximum and Daiwalook interesting. Ideally an 11ft rod is what I want, for the ubiquitous barbel, so a bit of poke needed and casting weight uo to 4oz. So which one?
The problem is that I often take customers out to lunch and I have had some funny comments when they see my gear in the back of the estate. All I need to hide this lot away is the multi sectioned rod and a telescopic landin net handle and hey presto, no snide remarks about sloping off work early ro fish. Thanks for the info and I will reply with a user report on the rod I chose. |

I'd be surprised if there's much between them Isaac. I should point out tho' that in the case of a tie, purchases from Tacklebargains earn AN brownie points and Elton a little cash.

Well I wouldn't want Tacklebargains or Elton to lose out but have found that Greys do a 1.75lb three piece rod and it is a real three piecer, not just an extra tip.
Prodigy Barbel Code GCP202.Fits nicely in the boot out of prying eyes. Leslies of Luton do it at 100quid., that'll be 5 quid sir. Sorry lads. |

The Fledger series that I designed a few years back are 3 piece rods. You could buy them with from 1 to 6 different top sections, depending on your needs. 3 of these incorporated quivertips, 3 had hollow tops. Test curves were 1lb 2ozs, 1lb 4ozs or 1lb 6ozs.
Length was 12¼ft with the hollow tops, although this could easily be cut back to 12ft as the butt was slightly longer than the other sections. This was to protect the lightest quivertip top (1½oz test curve), that was also slightly longer. The heavier the tip, the more through action the rod becomes, but of course the more powerful. I still use mine: the 1-02 top for perch, the 1-06 for tench and the 1-02 quivertip for chub. I also have a shorter butt section for fishing on overgrown waters. They're no longer available, but 5 blanks with a good selection of tops have recently turned up and not surprisingly I've just grabbed them! These can be made into custom-built rods at the old price, that is £129.95 for a hollow top model or £149.99 for a quivertip model. Extra top sections are £50 and £70 respectively. If anyone is interested please get in touch as soon as possible as I expect I'll find a home for them very quickly! [ 26.
