is it some sort of preserved bloodworm the jar is probably glass the lid maybe plastic and the writing assurably red though slightly faded

New to me. I've seen preserved wasp grub in jars but not bloodworm. Where did you find them?

Chesters, French maybe.
Ant, they where found in a cellar of an old fishing tackle shop a number of years back. I have no idea of the age but would agree with Chesters and say they are not Roman due to the French scripture on the vessel lid. |
