I couldn't get out with my new centrepin before 16th June, so I've just sat in the chair spinning it since then.

But it all became too much for me, so I snuck out at lunchtime to where a (supposedly) river enters a local lake that doesn't close until 30th May.

Unfortunately they'd blocked the sluice that allows water out of the lake, so the lake had backed up way up the river, and there was just the hint of a flow into the lake proper.

Using my lightest stickfloat, I was delighted to find even this weakest possible current still had the reel turning.

Then the float dipped smile.gif

That's not a lake I know well, is it Leon?
If it is, it may be that they've done that to get a big build up of water in the silt pool, before they let it all out, giving the silt a chance to flush away (with all the newly laid fish eggs), like they have before.

I'm not going to tell you off, as long as you don't mind me using my jet-ski off the end of Sun Pier this summer!

Hi Dunk,

Yes it is a lake you know well sad.gif

I'm told that they've blocked the sluice because they are doing some work downstream and the 'river' going out of the lake is just about dry.

When they let the water level drop, the spawn will probably be left high and dry sad.gif

You can ski all that you like at Sun Pier, I've found some other likely spots to try come the warm weather smile.gif

Of course it won't be on any of the stretches now being policed by Cllr Harwood's own "Thought Police", oops sorry, I meant anti-livebait patrols (how come the council can afford these, but not anyone to pick up litter?
