The EA recommended a fishery management consultant who netter a few
carp, pike bream and perch then flushed the rest of the lakes inhabitants down a very small stream. This happened on the 4th of march. The Angling club that leases the water found out on the 16th of march, and that was by 3ed party gossip. One of there fishery management team visited the venue on his way home from work that day. On arrival the lake was completely drained. When he inspected the outflow stream he saw several dead roach. Closer inspection revealed 1000s of roach and perch in distress in only inches of water. Within one hour several volunteers were on hand to try and rescue as many fish as possible. An estimated 300lb of roach and perch were saved from a certain death. They only stopped when the light faded and it became dangerous to carry on. These fish were rescued from no more than 30 yards of stream. When they left it was obvious that there were still many 100s of fish still left on the receding waters. Later that night it was revealed that the EA had witnessed these fish being flushed into the stream and did nothing. The following day 2 anglers didnt turn up for work, they were back at the stream netting another 100lb of roach rudd and perch. It also came to light that a very large number of signal crayfish had been released into the streem. -------------------- Fishboy

Report the Office in question to head office at Bristol and demand a full inquiry and full public disclosure of their finding.
Great PR for an Agency that’s taking a bit of flack at the moment……….Not! Take one shotgun aim at the ground and discharge………oops both feet are gone! -------------------- phil h.

I, like the rest of you, always buy my annual licence. It's about this time of year that several people will comment on things like where to buy it, how wonderful the value is, post links to EA non payers, etc.
When you hear things like this and the Collins debacle then it really makes you wonder. Wondering aside, I'll still be buying mine in the belief that (a) the good points outweigh the bad ( |

Hello Fishboy, why do I feel like I've only read the second half of the story.
So before we all go off half cocked with our squirrel guns pointed at the EA..... What was this consultants brief, just what had he/she been employed to do? and who employed him, the club or the EA. If this was part of some fishery management programme why were the leasing club not on site whilst the work was in progress or for 12 daya after the event? I hate hearing about the kind of situation you've just described, but without being in full posession of the facts it's impossible to judge who is to blame or for what? I hope someone else is confused too, it would make me feel better. -------------------- 'I've got a mind like a steel wassitsname'
