Just went to put my new rod licences away and noticed that two boxes were 'ticked' to say that I agree to receive junk mail regarding coarse and game fishing.

At no point, when ordering these licences, was I asked if I agreed to that. I would have definitely said no, as this is one of my real hates in life. I see my home as the one place I should be able to escape from junk mail and nuisance phone calls, hence I always tick the 'no junk' boxes and signed all my phones up to the TPS.

I tried ringing the EA, but their helpline is only open Monday-Friday during working hours, apparently.

As it was a week ago that I bought these licences, the chances are they've already sold my private details to other companies.

Not a happy bunny....

Elton - If I receive junk mail (Saga is a famous sender!) all I do is return the letter UNOPENED with the legend "return to sender - unsolicited mail" and blank out your address. Royal Mail will return it and the sender must pay the return postage plus a 'fine'.

I normally swap the contents around and send them back, if there's an SAE biggrin.gif

Hah! someone else with a warped sense of humour like myself.

I have just signed up to TPS as we were getting a lot of 'silent' calls where the caller waits a few seconds then hangs up. This was worrying my wife who believed we were being targeted.

The lady from TPS however assured me that most of these calls are made from automated dial-up machines, when the call is picked up, it is transferred to a sales person in a call centre, if there is no-one free to take the call immediately, the machine just 'hangs up'
very irritating.
I was told after registering to allow 28 days for the system to work, however since registering we haven't had a single call, we were getting up to two per day.... Result!

Our perception of time as an orderly sequence of regular ticks and tocks has no relevance here in the alternative dimension that is fishing....... C.Yates
