Hi chaps ive just got my invite to get my rod licence by direct debit. But when this was first introduced 2 or 3 yrs ago i heard it was a shambles with people not getting a licence on time or even not geting one at all. My wife gets my licence and she would rather do it this way. My Q is has it got any better?..... ALL THE BEST ZAPP......

Hi Zapp, I work for the company that provides the DD service and the problem in the first year this was launched was that all the mail to the PO Box was not released on time for the clearing house to issue the instruction for the licences to be issued, it had been rumoured that this was intentional as the carrier in question, which by the way was the same company that would lose all the moneys it would gain from the continuation of the counter service they were providing(un quote).
I have been using the service for the last two years and it seems ok.

By using the DD method of payment all but just under one pence of the fee goes straight to the enviroment agencey and hopefully back into fish & fishing.
The counter service used to charge 50p per permit issued, (2001 figure).
