Hi Danny and welcome to AnglersNet.

How about telling us a bit more about the "massive lake" that you've discovered. There's a fair number of people around the yorkshire area that post on here and the more information you can give the better the help you can be given. It's a fair bet that someone fishes the lake you're interested in.

It's all about features really. Have you had a look at the lake before? If you can it's a good idea to have a look around and look for signs of fish and fish movement. Look out for features such as overhanging trees, islands, reeds, bushes etc. Don't feel you have to cast out right into the middle (though sometimes this works too!).

Don't neglect the margins either. No matter the size of a lake carp love going around the edges looking for food. It's always worth putting some groundbait or loosefeed close in to the bank and then looking out for any moevement or fish activity. Then slowly present your bait into the swim....... You'll be suprised how close in you can catch.

At this time of year it's always worth trying a bit of surface fishing too (I've found late afternoons and evenings the best).
