Odd pic with the article. You don't see that many char in British rivers (at least no rivers that are likely to have polution problems) so this just looks like a rehash of old news cobbled together with whatever images happen to look good to a lazy hack.
The problems with estrogenic substances in our waterways (hormones fron contraceptives, PCBs etc)was raised at least three years ago in a serise of studies that followed on from investications into the reproductive difficulties of Florida's aligators.

I saw an article like that a few years back.

The pill ain't affected my stretch of river cos it's brimming with fry and if it was all female fish then one busy male has had his work cut out.

Further interesting reading on this subject.

If it's effecting fish what about us lot, still I suppose a couple of lumps in front might be useful to stop the carrying straps slipping. biggrin.gif

I saw an article like that a few years back.
its been released a few times over the years ,to blame "hormones" from the pill,"polution" from drains (usually car related) ,"heavy metals" from factories and probably in the next one "Global warming" ,mind you if our overpriced water companies ACTUALLY cleaned the water rather than just removing suspended particles the first two would be gone ,industry doesnt exist now so that excuse is remote and Global warming is just a term of phrase yet to be proved so its back to the first two biggrin.gif sad.gif
i blame to government from NOT bringing out a law to the words of "Any effluent or liquid entering a watercourse or drain should be cleaner (in chemical and biological and particles ) MUST be under threat of £1,000,000 per litre of such polutant fine be CLEANER than the said watercorse its entering" . sad.gif
and ofvcourse i blame girls biggrin.gif
