Hi Guys
I'm newish to the forums - although I've been reading for a while Just a quick question for you = Whats the best way to put peeler crab bait on the hook - Is it to just peel the back off and attach the flesh to a hook and tieing on with bait thread? Will Pollack and Bass go for this or is it better to just go for live sand eel? Cheers folks -------------------- I caught one THIS BIG! Honest!

Matrix, believe me, elastic is good, saves you losing a fortune in bait, and it has no detrimental effect on the attractiveness of the bait. I use it all the time with fresh mussels.

Cotton? Just enough to make sure it stays on the hook. Dont over wrap it. Try to keep a natural feel to the bait.

Hello matrix,
The two methods I think are worth concidering are very fine bait elastic Do as sam suggested peel them as if they are hard bioled eggs use a whole,Half,or qaurter according to your qaurrey.I then tend to pass the hook through the leg sockets a few times and then bind the bait on with about ten tight turns of the elastic to form a crab sausage shape, the elastic seems to bite into its self so knotting isnt important.the other fixing method I have used is to buy a tin of pipe freezing spray from the plumbing section at wicks pressent the bait as mentioned for the elastic method and the spray with the pipe freeze making a solid frozen bait that can withstand a cast. But please MIND YOUR FINGERS you can allso use the same method to pressent sand eel,and mussels allthough to be honest I rarely if ever use mussel as bait seems to attract crabs like nothing ellse I know Any way Hope that is a help! Can also freeze the bait onto the hook and carry it in a bait flask.
