One year after introducing the line testing programme, EFTTA is proud to publish those lines that have been awarded with the EFTTA approved logo. More than 40 lines passed the tests which are carried out according to the internationally recognised ISO 2062 standard in a strictly controlled laboratory environment.

‘We are very happy with the results so far’, Lelio Nahum, President of EFTTA commented. ‘Our next aim is to keep the momentum going and to convince the consumer to buy EFTTA approved quality products.’

Many of the companies that are supporting the project have already started their own marketing campaigns. “We are going to print the EFTTA logo on our new labels and will issue press releases for all approved lines. We want to convince the consumer that they are buying an ‘honest’ product”, Enrico Ravenni from O’Mustad points out. He believes that in time the logo will develop into a warranty seal that the consumers will become aware about. “Particularly for medium and high quality lines this will be a real selling point to the buyer”, he confirms.

EFTTA is going to closely monitor the progress of the project. “We will carry out more random testing to check the labelling of diameters and breaking strength on lines. If we find that lines are still labelled incorrectly by the end of the year we will consider publishing the results in the press”, Janet Doyle of EFTTA said. We urge all companies to state the correct breaking strength on their labels and invite them to apply for the EFTTA approved logo.

Great but as all of these tests are carried out on new line (and we all know how it deteriorates in sunlight) why didnt they do something really constructive like introducing a "manufactured date" on all spools? Now that I would aplaud.

There are some well known and respected makes not on that list. I wonder which companies sponsored the research and which didn't, answers on the back of a postage stamp!

I think the initial testing was all mono lines if I remember from articles a few months ago.

What would be really interesting is a complete list of all lines tested with pass/fail information. One wonders of some line makers aren't on the approved list because they didn't bother to submit lines or because they were tested and failed.

And I second Budgie with the need for a 'born on' date on line spools.

Exactly Den without knowing what brands were tested it rather defeats the aim dont it rolleyes.gif

And maybe my knowledge of the trade has made me a bit cynical but I doubt wether Gingers far from the truth.
