i would have thought it would have been released, whats the point of bringing a rare shark back onshore?

It was in the Evening Standard last night. 240lb I think. According to the Standard it was caught by two blokes mackerel fishing. I didn't know sharks took feathers! Sad thing is they sold it to a fish merchant for £180.

If they were anglers, rather than commercial fishermen, the sale of that fish was illegal, I believe.

I don't about it being illegal, but it just seemed a complete waste to me.

I agree that it was a pity they felt they had to kill it. sad.gif
Apparently they towed it backward to drown it (according to the Dail Mail).

Taking Elton,s point, I,m not sure these were "ordinary" anglers.
I also doubt if they were licenced commercial fishermen.
Perhaps Thursday is not a "signing-on" day in the Dorset area. rolleyes.gif
