Brillient! See features that you never knew were there! See underwater contours! Be able to record hot spots etc.! Go to http://www2.getmapping.com and have a look. Tap in the name, or postcode, hey presto! And you can print off a low resolution print or buy a quality print for a reasonable price.

I tapped in my local Broad, thought I knew it like the back of my hand! Oh no I didn't!!

Nothing to do with angling but have a look at http://www.evidenceincamera.com.uk/ It's WWW2 aerial photographs, absolutely fascinating.

Care to share it with us - Nathan - or do you only 'ask' the questions!

Get down to your local airfield where someone probably does trial lessons and/or joyrides for a surprisingly small cost, and some of your own photography.

Fascinating!

Even with a compact 35mm camera, shots I took of my local estuary were amazingly interesting, and of the lakes I fished 20 miles away, and my own house and back-garden.

Just 20 minutes of fying covers a lot of ground!

Hmm! My local canal looks more like a railway line, from that height, and why are the ponds beside it dark red?

I have used multimap too . . get a good arial view at 5,000:1, then photocopy a 1mm grid onto acetate . . you can then work out to a very good accuracy the size of the waters . . only thing I would say on multimap is to avoid going mad a broadband connection is a must, otherwise too much time is wastd waiting for updates
