A rather ancient gypsey gentleman, armed with every modern item of high tech fishing tackle that wealth could buy, had been sitting in his JVC Bender-Dome without having the slightest success.

Imagine the old bloke's surprise when a small boy appeared on the banks of his exclusive syndicate lake armed with nothing more than a stick, a piece of string and a humble garden worm as his sole outfit. As luck would have it the boy hooked and safely landed a big carp within minutes.

Without hanging about the tousle headed boy proudly rushed off with his catch to show his mum. 'Why, b#gger me gently', exclaimed the fairly modern mum,'what sort of fish is that?

'Dunno', said the excited small boy, 'but the misserable old git fishing near me said it was a King Limit'!!!!

That has all the elements of a best seller Peter...small tousle haired boys...buggery..fish stealing...dirty old man....gypsy...camp(ing).....and that final touch....a bit of luck.

Fascinating stuff biggrin.gif

I have just started reading the 5th Harry Potter book, so maybe I am seeing things that aren't really there biggrin.gif

Thanks for the encouragement, am now thinking of sending the idea to Mills and Boon.

A work-in-progress of purest fiction, Petey old fellow! rolleyes.gif

'Ancient' - I'm 48 - an age you'll never see again, Gramps.

'Every modern example of high-tech....' - But no cheaty fish-finder, you'll notice.

'Without the slightest success' - Modesty forbids me from revealing all, but let's just say 'five over 30 and seven 20s in the past three months, shall we? Ahem.

Apart from that, it was...well, crap really.

Stick to taking snaps and leave the storytelling to the artistes, Mush. biggrin.gif

A. Remember that I've got a bankside hot-tub and that I'm eons younger than you. Thus, the 'dirty' and 'old' tags are non-starters.

B. Not a repeat among 'em mate, and all located via MY watercraft - not someone else's electronics.

Bring it on, Mush - I'm ready for yuz! biggrin.gif

But could you locate 'em in a wild river? As I have said before, bit like hunting lions in cages, easy!

Okay, okay, dirty middle aged man! The hot tub is being used to retain the latest trophy fish!

'Easy' eh? I must pass on your learned verdict to the guys who've caught sod-all since October.

As for locating them in a river, plenty do, and they do it without resorting to your electronic cheatery, Sir!

'Pleeeeeease Mr. Marconi, I can't find my own fish, can yoooouuu do it for me, pleeeeeease?!!!'

Awful business, simply awful.

Do you use cane rods and tin foil for an indicator? If not then you`re embracing technology as much as everyone else.
