You know the score - seven/eight/nine feet, baby multiplier, for bass, chub, perch and pike, small lures but big fun. £100 maximum. Your suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

Go to E.Bay! Don't be tempted by the John Wilson Six Shooter outfit though!

Seven foot long is excellent, but budget rods in this length are hard to come by.

ABU is excellent. And there are some good e.bay bargains from ABU.

Pownalls of Great Yarmouth are doing ABU Eons for £75.00. I rate them highly. You'll pick up a good ABU lure rod on E.Bay for under £25.00, doddle.

not used the rod, but the reel is terrible, no need to risk the rod when there are alternatives like the abus

teebee - I can highly recommend this combo (I now own and use 3 of them). Outstanding rig and I've never seen anything else at near the price that even comes close.

Price right now is £40 so even with shipping, VAT, and all of that you should wind up paying under £70. UK folks I've spoken to say BassPro does well with overseas shipping.

Spool the reel with 30lb or 50lb powerpro and you
are still under your target price with a really sweet rig. I use the 7ft medium but I'm mostly after smaller fish with smaller lures so you would probably want the medium-heavy rod in any of the lengths they offer.

You can buy 'em both as a complete outfit for about £50.00, waste of money!
