Can anyone help with this one:

"Dear Anglersnet,
On the 14th July I'm off to Florida for the first time and probably the last due to the cost.In England I am mainly carp fishing around the east midlands.I have no idea of what to expect fishing wise. I'm staying in orlando area and wish to get a bend in my rod, I would be grateful of any tips of where to go and how to do it."

If you go to Daytona Beach there is a large pier going out into the sea, to get through to the end you have to pass through a tackle shop and pay to go on the pier 25cents (though it might have gone up) in the tackle shop you can hire all the gear you need and purchase frozen, fresh and livebait. The gear should cost you around $5 a day.
When I was there I caught Bluefish (3-4lb bit like a Pollack) and a 4lb flatfish that was black, white and grey coloured, some guy told me that they catch them upto 10lb and I saw a Pufferfish get caught and some one had a large fish (not sure what it was) that weighed in at 52lb.
The guy from the tackle shop comes and takes pictures of all decent fish caught and the shop is full, wall to wall of pictures.
Also from the pier you could see dolphins that were closer to the shoreline than I was at the end of the pier. Stingrays could be seen in less than 2ft of water (no way was I going paddling).
Hope this helps, enjoy your holiday,
Scott.

You can take a look at http://home.cfl.rr.com/floridafishing/link.htm which contains a lot of information about fishing the Florida East Coast (Atlantic Ocean side). There is also some great fresh water fishing in that area although I don't think carp enjoy the weather and you have to go further north to find them.

If you want some fresh water angling that is somewhat similar to the UK except for species, there are a number of the State run parks that have lakes and permit fishing from the shore. You could expect to get US bream (a sunfish - bluegill is a commonly known one) which is totally different than the UK fish of the same name. Also catfish (mostly channel cat), largemouth bass, and a few others.

In addition, there are some large lakes in the Orlando area that hold lots of fish. An email to the Orlando Chamber of Commerce should get you good information about sea and fresh water fishing in that area. There is an email link at http://www.orlando.org/
