Beware of cheap rod rests! I bought a couple of what looked like sturdy black plasic tops for my bank sticks. The first snapped in half as I pushed the rod rest into the bank at the start... bad luck, I thought. Halfway through the day, I decided to reposition my rods and the second one snapped, this time gouging into my hand and leaving two large shards of plastic that I had to remove. The mud was fairly soft, so the performance of these £1 items was woeful..

Y shaped sticks are good! Cost less than a quid too. You are right though. Holiday makers leave them on many Broads river's edges, and, other than tidiness, not worth picking up.

Come on Pangolin. I'm the frugal one around here and even I managed to spend some proper dough on banksticks. Quid banksticks indeed.

I'd strongly recommend King's banksticks for all round use. What's more they're the only ones I've found that can cope with some of the gravelly swims at Wingham. This is because the thin brass points go in between most bits of gravel. See my field test at http://anglers-net.co.uk/reviews/king01.htm

I rate my stainless steel ones, but by heck are they heavy.
I often wonder what happened to the Titanium ones marketed by Nash a few years back.
I know they where expensive; but if a few companies followed suite and also produced them, then the price would have undoubtedly become more competitive.

I just bought 6 Dinsmore Powerdrives. Very nice indeed.

Got some extendable (58") stainless Dinsmores on the way and I might look a those heads that andy uses.

It was the tops that cost a quid each... from a good tackle shop too. I'm taking them back next week, not so much to get my money back but because the shop needs to know they are no good.
