WHY IS EVERYTHING A SECRET
i have been a keen fisherman all my life and love my boat fishing but where i live in herne bay kent everything is a secret.
when i go out i always have people coming up to me asking how i got on and what marks i have fished and what tackle and bait i used,
i love to help people out and give them as much information to my knoledge which isn't alot ha! ha! in my town you go down to the local marina and have a chat to people that have just come in from fishing and i say hi mate how did you get on there reply is not much. then you see aload of bass in the boat and thornies.
another time i asked someone else how they got on and they said quite good. so i asked what they caught and there reply was about 20 good sized bass so i asked what method and bait and mark they fished.
he replied sorry mate cant tell you.
you might go out there tommorow and nick em all...
well i ask you what are some people like there is plenty of fish in the sea but some people are just ignorant!!!!!
i am glad i am a member on here everyone is so eager to help anyone cheers chaps..

I try and help fellow anglers out with marks the best I can Pete, its nice to be nice as they say.
Unfortunately there are some people out there who are low life (those evil gill netters - the stuff that nightmares are made of )

They "trawl" through forums like ours looking for innocent snippets about bass hot spots. Next thing you go to your local bass hot spot to find not one fish as it has been netted to buggery sad.gif
Owing to the current high market value for bass a lot of scum have been attracted to this easy money activity.

If a total stranger came up to me and asked me about bass marks I would initially be guarded on the subject until I sussed them out.
Its just a pity everyone is not as "innocent" as us.
I you ever make it up to the Mull of Galloway I will take you bass fishing - deal or what

You never make the exact locations, methods or baits general knowledge!! Otherwise, next time you go there. Either you`ll find a load of wasters thrashing the water. Or as Snatcher has stated, netters or longliners have stripped the area.
General areas and methods, yes.
But, if you found a money tree. Would you print a map with the location in the local rag?

Evening and dawn is best in my experience, but I've caught them in summer, with a flat calm sea and blazing sun.

Evening is my fav, though. And yes - you can catch them in the dark, but I would still say evening/dusk is better still.

You feeling alright Summer? I never thought I'd hear the day when you said you were going to target bass? biggrin.gif

Westie.

If you're being chased by a police dog, try not to go through a tunnel, then on to a little seesaw, then jump through a hoop of fire. They're trained for that.

Talking to a lad the other day westie, said he had over a hundred Bass last summer not very far from where I live. This chap showed me a pic of one he caught and claimed it was 9 pound. I saw big cod get one about 4 pound one day by mistake when we were codling fishing so i'm sure there are some good ones about. So im gonna give it a go. Gonna bait fish with worm and perhaps try a Rapala.
