....(all the below happened to my mate Paul on Friday night/Saturday morning...!)

...you arrive late for your Crucian fishing session - missing out on the dusk and have to tackle up in the dark . (Never mind there's always the following morning)

...you cast out and set your rod and 50 Canada Geese squawk in at hedgetop height and choose to land just where your feeder is.

...It's midnight - you've managed to catch a few small commons (the Crucians will come in the morning - you hope) when your mobile phone rings!! It's the fire brigade! The fire alarms have gone off at work - you're the Facilities Manager and key holder (you're also 50 miles from the premises!) Spend the next hour ringing colleagues and directors (all of whom are exceedingly pi$$ed) - eventually satisfy yourself it's a false alarm... have another beer yourself.

...0100 the mobile phone rings again. It's the wife!! Youngest daughter isn't home yet  She was told to be in by 2330. Try to speak to daughter - daughter turns off phone!

... you decide that maybe you should go home BUT you've had a few beers - so decide that getting some sleep may be the best option after all tomorrow looks like being a lonnnnggg day! Reel in rods and get some kip - missing most of the Perseid meteor shower (another reason you chose tonight to be out)

...you are woken at 0500 by 50 canada geese using your swim as a take off pad. Remember the midnight crises (plural!) and pack up.

...you are driving home on the A4 and your rear tyre has a blow out demon Examine tyre find huge nail! Mate (that would be me tongue.gif ) texts to say he's caught a 1½lb crucian.

...limp to garage to be told that ALL your tyres need replacing at cost of &700.

...arrive at work and re-set alarms (They will go off again later in the day!)

...eventaully arrive home to find the wife has double bolted the front door! Ring wife from your own doorstep to get back in!

...get to bed - and get woken up at 0930 - youngest daughter hasn't turned up for work yet!!!

Never mind - Paul - least you didn't blank!

Hmmmm......I recognise this disaster of an angler....oh...it's me biggrin.gif

Never mind, as you say Chris, I didn't blank, I also didn't fall in, it didn't rain, I didn't break any of my fishing gear, and I didn't spill any of my bait in the car.

And there's always the next outing to look forwards to biggrin.gif

Done pretty much all of those things Paul. Just never done them all together. I trust 'youngest daughter' eventually showed her face with an incredible tale to tell.

Andy, Tried golf a lonnnggg time ago, got fed up with hitting the ball and then spending 20 minutes looking for it before I could hit it again biggrin.gif

Chris, Can't switch mobile off......just in case family need to contact me.....oh.....I see what you mean rolleyes.gif

Argyll, daughter showed up about 10:00 on the Saturday morning, all back to normal chaos levels

Fire alarm is sorted, car is sorted, although I have a lot of explaining to do on that one....it's only got 23,000 on the clock, and the fronts have been replaced once already. It's not like it's a sports car either!
