Tell 'em what we, the voting sea angers, think. If we shrug and say "nothing will be done", guess what, nothing will be done.
Everything you need to know in order to do something about it is here.

That really sums up that idiot of a man. Ben Bradshawe knows that the measures in place are not being enforced so have no chance whatsoever of having an effect. I suspect he's playing it down as the annual eu fisheries meet is starting very soon. My guess is Ben bradshawe will be getting it in the neck right now from the commercial fleet representatives who dont want any quota reductions or other new restrictive measures, and he knows if he agrees with that report they will probably chop off his head.
Now infact could be a very good time to voice our opinions, discussing this with your mep may be a good idea. Also emailing joe boerg the eu commissioner might be called for.

C4 headlined their news with this stating the difference between the royal commisions view that a 1/3 of all waters across the globe need a total fishing ban and the EU's view that only cod fishing needs to be banned (as if fishing can be that picky and other methods are acceptable and non destructive).

A debate between a staunchly stubborn Peterhead skipper who denied there was a problem and a RC scientist didnt get anywhere...the skipper flatly refusing to see a problem because his catches have been getting bigger, 50% decommissioning and other measures stated for the more efficient and thus increased catches over a full fleet...so there's no problem.

A spokesmen for the government indicated that there needed to be a balance between the fish stocks and the interests of the fishing industry...i think the point the RC was making that its now beyond that was either lost on him or completely side swiped.

If the attitudes of the fishing industry dont change, then I will have little sympathy for them when the whole thing collapses and probably distain as I look over an empty sea. At what point will they realise there isnt enough left for them to fish so intensively...at what point will they realise its over full stop? The way i see it is they have an option to adopt the more extreme measures and build an industry and market around them (if possible) or go out of business in 10-20 years completely.

There is no right to work and no jobs for life anymore. Time to wake up and smell the coffee while people are in the mood to serve it to you in the morning as opposed to chucking at you later.

I feel that "we told you so" will be the sad only recourse in 10 years time. Sympathy is wearing a little thin now.
