Any offers. Around 33lb trust or bigger with forward reverse etc. Might go for more than one battery if available.

Hi Fluke. I can't help these days, but before I retired I used to sell electric outboards and fishfinders etc., as well as having used them for a great many years.
I'd go along with your idea of 2 batteries, partly as it's much easier to carry one medium-sized battery in each hand rather than 1 big battery in front of you. I say in front of you as batteries above 85 amp/hour usually if not always have 2 small carrying handles, meaning that this is the only way to carry them - very awkward plus a recipe for a bad back if ever I saw one! The additional advantage of 2 batteries is if 1 fails you still have another to get you out of trouble. As you probably know it's better to go for deep cycle or leisure batteries as they're sometimes called. Unlike car batteries these are designed to be repeatedly discharged and recharged. Are you going to be using the outboard for trolling live/deadbaits? If so I'd strongly suggest you go for one with infinitely variable speeds. Minn Kota for instance use the term Maximiser for this facility. The advantage is that you can go dead slow - even the slowest speed on a standard 5 speed motor is usually way too fast for this kind of fishing. Infinitely variable speed motors also use up less battery power if you're not going flat out all the time. Good luck in finding one!
