Firstly to do with your question. You cannot fish off the piers anymore, the miserable ba*****s kicked us off, secondly where about s do you want to fish and for what type of fish? I live in Blackpool and would be more than willing to help but I need a little more info or if yo send me your email adress I will send you my phone number and we can discuss it

I've only been bitten by the sea bug for the past 9 months but started off with a ledger rod, 6lb mainline with running ledger and size 10 hooks bated with prawns at Fleetwood in the channel (not too far from Blackpool) at low tide. Got quite a few small codling on my first trip and made me want to go back for more! Main advice is to fish from about about 1.5 hours before low tide. Any sooner and without a serious lead your bait will have drifted back to shore in seconds. I guess you could also try off the Gynn Wall (North of the Tower towards Bispham) at high tide if it's not too rough.
Fishing is supposedly picking up according to tonights paper with codling showing.
Good luck.

Ok I will try to see if I can help. I have tried spinning throughout the summer in Blackpool without sucess. I also think it is possibly a little late in the year but still worth a go. Personally I would say 10 or 12 lb line, a 1oz weight and buy a couple of brightly coloured Red Gills. The water is a little murky so bright things can be seen. Venue:- Harrowside, it is at the far south end of Blackpool(half mile south of pleasure beach) You will find the old Solairium, it is now boarded up, ask a local they will tell you where it is. With the solarium to your back face out to sea and go over the prom and onto the walkway. you will find a slipway that leads down onto the beach. The gates look locked but you can open the chain. Fish on the slipway and you never know your luck. Fish 1 hour before and one hour after high tide. If the tide is out no problem fishing it in BUT WATCH THE CHANNELS BEHIND YOU they fill up and cut you off!!!. Any further info email me at IanB1303@aol.com
Good luck and enjoy your day fishing. I was out last night and had several dabs and a large eel, so there are fish about.
