Can anyone recommend a good rod builder, preferably one that uses Harrison blanks?

Cheers

Paul

No problem there at all, NICK BUSS is your man though I dont know what sort of blanks he uses.
He made one for me in June and it really is a work of art. I took it out on one charter trip with Abbu7000 on it and a couple of lads were DROOOOOOOOLING.

You are a very lucky man, I found the details and if you could see my office you would know just how lucky you are rolleyes.gif
My original order was dealt with by Rob Thompson, rob@game-online.co.uk He is hard to track down at times so will email you Nick Buss private address.
Yellow pages or snail mail for initial contact with Nick.

I can tell you this before you go further, they are not cheap but you really do get what you pay for. It's a bit like going to a tailor to get a suite made.
Mine was 9 foot, 12-15lb class, original price was 150 quid but as a ANMC person ( I think) I got it for 120 quid. The extra whippings (gold tips) 5 quid, shipping to Holland 35 quid.
It was also singed with Hand made for Alan Taylor by Nick Buss July 2002. Even Gaffer can't pose like that biggrin.gif

There are other rod makers about but even I was creaming my jeans when it arrived.

I'd echo what Alan has already said. Nick was my first rod builder at Caliber, and not only makes a fine rod but knows what he's talking about when it comes to design.

The best time to contact Nick is in the afternoon or early evening if you're phoning him. However due to a death in the family he may be hard to get hold of temporarilly. If you have a problem drop me an e-mail with what you're loking for and I'll get in contact with him - it's always nice to talk to a fellow mulleteer anyway.

Thanks Steve

Do you know off hand whether the 01233 number is still the right one? I'll give him a call this afternoon and let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Result! Just spoke to Nick, and he's agreed to put it together for me, and very reasonably priced too:-

12' 9", 1lb 2oz TC Blank
Abbreviated cork grips
Fuji 3 legged rings
reversed Fuji reel seat
Black whippings with a gold line in them
my name and website address on the blank

Should be done in a couple of weeks.....oooo can't wait!! biggrin.gif

Cheers for the help guys.

Paul
