I fished a mark on the north side of the Crouch from the sea wall today for 1.5 hours.
I caught the roker pictured below, it was 4 to 5lb, there have been several roker caught from the shore of our local rivers the past few seasons. The roker seem to have made a real comeback as it was almost unheard of to get them from the sea walls of the crouch, the only reason I can think of is that their numbers have grown to a point where fish have to move inshore to find food.

Lovely looking fish - I've not caught any species of ray, but judging by what Sam says, there's always a chance of them migrating up the coast a bit more...

Cracking picture. That's started my morning off really well, thanks Sam. smile.gif

Westie.

If you're being chased by a police dog, try not to go through a tunnel, then on to a little seesaw, then jump through a hoop of fire. They're trained for that.

thanx for the coment lads,
thornies seem to feed better from the shore at night but if theres been a blow and a hard run of tide this will colour up the water till its like tea. Just after or just before slack water is best and desent bait like good sqid, freshly frozen mackeral or herring, peeler crabs and hermits all work.

Nice fish Sam, never seen a thorny with markings like that, the colour contrast is more distinctive than any I have caught.

Nice pic.
