I've not fished there but have fished a number of places in Floria and up the East Coast. There is such a huge number of good local web sites for sea anglers over there the best thing to do is a Google search and spend the next few evenings going through what you have found. You will not be dissapointed!

Christian "Sir Ian Burrett" - kneel ,palm leaves, etc is due back from there this Sat coming. I think bone fish were amongst the target species, not sure about the rest. I am sure Ian will post up some sort of report about his "adventures" in Florida. If Ian cannot answer your questions I am sure our one and only "Newt" can put you right.
Lets have a sweep on Ians biggest bonefish then
My guess is 8.5lbs!

am an american visiting england for a year, fished florida many times,Have never exactly there but the fishing is excellent pretty much statewide that month, have fished the west coast less than the east, but it should be well within reason to have a bite a chuch during the best parts of the day with small fish. try channels at the ends of the island, there are likely to be fishing piers, can be a bit crowded but with a good beach caster you will out distance 95% of the people. have done very well in marina entrances too. Open beaches on the west coat are good for spinning( had snook off the west coast doing this, cast along the beach rather than straight out) at dusk and dawn, and ledger after dark with a big fish bait and you might be a very happy boy. The fishing for stingrays and sharks tends to be somewhat under appreceiated. as for gear, a british style spinner 9 foot or so is the best for lure fishing for anything and float and ledgering for small fish, and a beachcaster with a 7000 size reel 30 pound line for heavy fish or prawn baits. you will be able to get everything cheaper except grip leads there(wire leader may be nessecary), but your beach rods will be much better than most of what is availible in the states(although we are catching up fast) I have taken more than 20 kinds of fish in florida in a weeks time and 35 pound jacks off the shore(a 20 pounder fights for 45 minutes on 30 pound line) it can be excellent if you play it right, had many fish while the woman was sunbathing at high noon i was ledgering bait, sitting on the edge of the beach towel took fish to 20 pounds. good luck,
timmy

As far as rigs are concerned, talk to local tackle shops out there - there are lots and they are always helpful for us Brits smile.gif
