Typical of the anti angling beeb.
Lets scrap the only angling show we have left and use the money to pay a criminal. -------------------- RUDD

An excellent repost to the BBC from a man and an organisation that I don't support and have little empathy for but non the less deserves our support for this one issue alone.
If anyone finds this a condtradiction in terms , then that's the problem that faces anglers at the moment. Once our 'leaders' whoever they may turn out to be, get their house in order then that is the kind of proactive assault on the media that we need. |

And what have FACT done about it?
WE should all E-Mail the BBC and give them our thoughts about this. We as anglers should stop all the bickering and put our efforts into promoting angling instead of putting down other organisations. -------------------- Mark

Taken from the BBC.
Feedback is the BBC Network Radio listeners' feedback programme, produced for Radio 4 by an independent production company, and presented by Roger Bolton. Feedback's content is entirely directed by the letters, emails and faxes it receives from listeners. Mark Damazer, controller of radio 4 is taking part in a webchat on Friday 18 March. Send in a question for him here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/feedback.shtml -------------------- Mark

'If anyone finds this a condtradiction in terms'
I don't find that a contradiction at all. Sounds very sensible to me. I emailed BBC Feedback. It claims to be driven by readers/listeners letters, email etc. i cant think of a topic thats likely to raise more questions than this one, so I thought it worth taking the trouble to mail them. -------------------- 'I've got a mind like a steel wassitsname'

Er I am sorry this is old news and has been in the AM last week. Anglers mail is fighting it and organaising an appeal to put pressure on the beeb to reverse its decsion. Of course if the beeb does reverse its position i am sure the CA will claim credit.

Peter, I dont really give a toss who achieves a degree of success in getting some sensible level of fishing programming in TV and radio. If all of the orgs and media did something like this, it might make a huge difference. Quite possibly the tone of your response is indicative of why whe'll never all be marching to the same tune. Lack of focus.
BTW Peter, this is what you had to say about Auntie Beeb in connection with the Tony Martin manslaughter case and the payment of $4,500 to Brendan Fearon for his view. 'This issue is in the public interest and the BBC has a responsibility to present a balanced programme that examines all sides of the argument so had to balance the programme with an interview with this criminal. I think that the BBC are being criticised unfairly in this matter' Not however in the matter of fishing related programming. -------------------- 'I've got a mind like a steel wassitsname'

The BBC does have a responsibility to produce a balanced output and in regard to fishing it is failing dismally, I will be supporting the Appeal in The Anglers mail and I don't care how individuals respond but respond we must.

Dear All,
The thing I like about this effort from the CA is that’s its all about trying to preserve pure fishing entertainment. Pure fishing and everything it entails is the reason why we all go fishing in the first place. Angling politicos would do well to remember that. Brian said; "Once our 'leaders' whoever they may turn out to be, get their house in order then that is the kind of proactive assault on the media that we need." We certainly do Brian, the more the merrier. Gerry said; (Argyll) “Peter, I don’t really give a toss who achieves a degree of success in getting some sensible level of fishing programming in TV and radio. If all of the orgs and media did something like this, it might make a huge difference. Quite possibly the tone of your response is indicative of why we’ll never all be marching to the same tune. Lack of focus." Its quite staggering Gerry the difference in coverage that angling receives between terrestrial TV and SKY. Sky appears to be scoffing up audiences knowing full well there’s a massive angling audience out there? So what’s going off at "Aunty Beep" then? Passion for Angling saw millions sat in front of their boxes it was that popular. I knew loads of none angling people who never missed an episode. That’s the draw angling has when it’s presented properly to a diverse audience in the way Hugh Miles did. There is no doubt that some television companies are missing out on something very special. Well done CA and Charles for the effort. Well done also to the AM and other orgs (FACT) that might be getting involved in this one. Regards, Lee. |
