The seas are alive with doggies and pout down here.
At least they are something to catch.

Still the bigger Whiting around Kent coast, plus the odd Flounder and Dab.The odd Dogfish, not that they are a good catch. Not very good table fish, and I find they don't return very well, pity. In Febuary, lots of Dabs inshore.

I call it a day in the Solent from end of Jan to mid-April.

There's always a chance of a big cod outa Lymington (Needles) or Langstone (Nab) in Jan ....
simply because the Ytings have thinned out.

Waiting game, though ....

Ziggy, I have quite a large smoker for mackerel, whiting and silver eels .....

never thought of doing a 'doggie' (well not exactly the fishy kind ....
that don't help much in clearing the ideas outa yer heads, will it?)

I bet smoked belly of 'Smut' might work too .....

I'm not prepared to kill a 'Smut' for its 'yummy tummy', though.

Nice idea ..... about the odd deep-hooked 'doggie', though.

Thanks for the idea ......

So did I until last year - I had some very good days through January and February. March was **** though. So I'm still planning trips (then cancelling them cos of the weather!)
