Was fishing a gully at Eyemouth many moons ago, fishing light gear and ledgering with rag. Managed to hook the same small angler fish 3 times in the space of about one hour. It had a very distinctive scar on its bonce so I knew it was the same critter.
Come on chaps beat this one!

Snatcher?
Just read the report of my last Dartmouth trip? I got so fed up with baiting hooks, only for a mackeral shoal to hooh themselves. I never re-baited! When the skipper enquired about all the mirth. "Look at Paul. He`s catching fish on bare hooks"!
The next drop with bare hooks, got to the sea bed. Result? 1 Black Bream, plus a Red Gurnard!!
Yes. The hooks must have kept a whiff of the previous bait. But these were nice black Aberdeens, so no shiny flash in the water. What were those fish thinking about?

LOL...yeh, we've had gurnard take empty hooks...i think theyre opportunist snatchers, think they see something on the bottom, wander over watch it and when it moves grab it...never had a nibble, just caught them on the retreve when moving the kayak.

I've had plenty of fish take bare hooks, but probably the craziest fish I had was a sea trout that jumped into my boat while I was running up the Fowey River.

I also had a nice flounder jump out of a breaking wave and land at my feet at Dungeness. On the cast before that, I had snagged someone's lost tackle and landed two cod that had taken the other guy's baits. Vagabond was there - he saw it all!

Whilst fishing on dunnet beach north of scotland after hours of nothing, i was sitting chatting to my angling partner when a shape apeared in the water about 20ft out and was moving towards us slowly but steady, we both went silent, the shape was a 2-3lb turbot and it kept coming to us until all i had to do was scoop it up!!! the easyest fish i have ever caught, although i did wade out with it and put it back! We were speechless for a few minutes though!
