i will keep this short as ive already posted this elsewhere, very dissapointed with total lack of response from nfsa, or, bass, or anyone that blabbs on about the value of sea angling conservation etc, to jeremy vines radio2 interview/phone in questions today to the fisheries minister. not one sea angler or representative of phoned in, not one, just the usual scottish hard done by commercial and some bloke about pair trawling comparing moral issues about dolphin deaths and the fox hunting ban. if the nfsa etc want my money they will have to do a lot better, not good enough.

stavey,

a large number of questions were supplied in advance by members of BASS & UKSWFF( including one by myself) and even phone numbers provided so questions could be put accross 'live on air'

not one of our questions were raised. and as Lee said - BB knew most of the callers, which makes you realise how planned these 'free' phone-ins are.

that said, the pair trawling ban is a reality as is the current review by DEFRA of the Bass Management Plan supplied to DEFRA by BASS.

BB and Martin Salter do seem to be aware of the issues - its up to us to keep the pressure on and the issue in the public eye.

I sent in two questions, and know of others sent in by NFSA & BASS, as well as other members of NFSA, and anglers from other websites also responded with questions.

Why do you assume that no one phoned in?

Did you?

call me naive! but i was not aware of this procedure in talk shows so no point in listening then, still il know next time not to bother and waste my time. but i will say this there is a lot more work thats got to be done before i and a lot of other people even consider putting hannds in pockets for license!s,donations etc, ps i think the pair trawling thing is a red herring, scuse pun, as the scottish will still do it and say there fishing for something else.

Davy, agreed, but I think they are the only ones that do it in kilts. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I made the effort to listen to that programme also and was disappointed that recreational fishing interests were not directly involved.
I think its more a fault of the BBC, than the Angling Organisations, or individuals.

Stavey,

have a read of the Bass Management Plan - i think you'll be pleasantly surprised as it puts recreational anglers on an equal footing as it PROVES the UK economy gets 5 times the benefit from what we spend on angling.

support it and it will happen.
