I want to send a 13ft two piece rod to another AN poster without it costing me a fortune

Any ideas - post office standard parcels will only take parcels up to 1.5m long.

We use Business Post from work, also Fed Ex for International. BP do a "Home Delivery" next day rate which is cheaper. If you don't have an account I think there are drop-off centres - details on their respective web pages. You probably know this but the best way of sending rods is in a section of plastic drainpipe. Hope that helps.

i searched many couriers and found that the 150cm limit is common, and you pay a premium for anyting longer (apparantly due to the fact that parcels longer than this wont go through the automated machines they have) so i went to my local friendly post office and talked them into delivering the rods
ona normal first class service, they were delivered with no probs

Have posted two myself. Post office wouldn't take them, but it sounds like worth trying. It was a mare finding somebody who would deliver them. Eventually mine went with UPS, about £25 to business addresses. However, on the second occasion, their strapline of 'consider it done' would seeem to have meant the complete opposite.

Also, when sending rods put some foam padding in the ends of the tube so you don't end up with smashed tip rings!

This is crazy - no-one will take the rod. Interlink took the booking but then refused the parcel when they came to collect it as it was too long (no lectures about contract law etc. thanks). Post office also refused. Parceline, Business Post etc refused as the parcel is too long for one off bookings.
Suggestions?
