HELP! Being the numpty i am one of my pole sections has stuck inside another (probably due to me not wiping it down after use). Ive tried washing up liquid and brute force but nothing will budge it. Its a really really tight fit so getting lubricant inbetween the sections is virtually impossible. Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks chaps |

The best method I have come accross is as follows. First you need 3 people. One person to grip each pole section and PULL firmly but not too hard. On no naccount try to twist the pole this may lead to a damaged pole. The third person needs to hold the pole either side of the joint loosely withiout gripping it. They then rock the pole with a circular motion (a little like someone working a mangle but on a reduced scale). Again no force should be applied otherwise the pole may be damaged. If all goes to plan the pole will just ease apart with NO force involved. I think that the theory is that the rocking motion is enough to un-do the vacume that has caused the joints to stick. It may be worth contacting your local tackle dealer who will probably have seen this all before. When you see this done for the first time it really does seem like magic, the seemingly welded joints just ease apart. If you are alone a much less efective method is to poour some weater inside the pole to the joints. Then use a hairdryer inside the pole. this might be enough to do the job. This worked for me once before I learned the other technique. Good luck and remember brute force will only break the pole. |

Whilst the method Worm describes is very effective in extreme cases, quite often the cause of the sections not comming apart is simpley because when being pulled (by one or two people)you are actually bending the joint making it stick. The way around this is for two people to grasp the two sections, each person having one hand on each section either side of the joint. Both people then pull with one hand whilst pushing with the other. This ensures that the sections are not bent and usualy frees them.Works really well on stuck rod sections as well.
Be carefull wityh washing up liquid as a luricant as when it dries it acts as a glue as any rod builder will tell you when using duplon grips! |

Should have said that the two "gentle" pullers should hold near the ends of the pole sections.

Thanks lads, the problem with those methods is that the pole section thats inside isnt sticking out of the top section at all. Its jammed up about 3 inches from the lip of the outer pole so I cant get a hold on any of it at all. It went in fine when I packed it up last but im at a loss to think what is jamming it up.

try running the sections under 'hot' water first then do as worm said.

I still have Liam's stuck together, I was going to get Budgie & Andrew to have a go at it on the pike fish-in but never got round to it.
If you have a slice of bread uner your hands it gives a really good grip. I thought this was a wind up when someone suggested it to me but it really does work. I will be interested to see if the above works if so I will have to try it with Liam's. Right all I need now is 3 men lyn |

Sluk, is the stuck section caused when packing one inside the other?
If it is then a sharp tap on a hard surface will dislodge the one stuck inside........note I said TAP, not a massive wallop. Den -------------------- "You have to be there to Blank"
