Further to my earlier post have found out the name of the new proposed umbrella body:-

http://www.nuba.org.uk/

This to me looks good on paper, but I'd be interested to hear what others thought.

Jim.

It's a good idea, and just what angling needs. The difficult part will be getting 99.9% of anglers to part with three quid. We're our own worst enemies sometimes.

I've had a reply and tbh I am a little concerned that the only points really covered are fish theft. It is a concern to lots of anglers but there are far more things that are of concern than that. I have e-mailed Alan and asked for answers to a few questions I have raised. Not least of which, what are the main features of his financial plan, what else does he have on his agenda, what does he plan to do about anti's, boaters and cyclists (the same people in some instances). What does he see will be the roles of the NFA and FACT. Plus a few more. When I get an answer to all those points,
I will decide whether to join or not.

Is that the People's Front of Judea, or the Judean Peoples Front?

I'm getting a bit confused.

1. The problem it seems to me is that the words NATIONAL UNION OF BRITISH ANGLERS (NUBA) is a mis-statement. It would better be the NUB Fresh Water A, because it mainly seems to promote the interests of that side of the sport.

2. Do we really need yet another body arguing and splitting the angling community?

3. We have got various disparate bodies all fighting for their individual corner, and then the commercial side and the RSA side also in some intances at each others throats.

I therefore see little point in the idea.

What are you doing then Henry. Your petition is to drive an unfair wedge between commercial and rsa, one more won't make much differance.

cheers barry
