Does anyone remember the twin point hooks sold by Veals in Bristol (The shop, not the mail order business) - they were rather like salmon fly hooks only larger. They were sold in boxes of 25 in size 3/0 only and you got a baiting needle with them - you pressed the points together and inserted them into the end of the needle to bait up. When the points were released, they sprang back to 90 degrees from each other. The bait was then held on the shank of the hook and unable to slide down and mask the points. I can't get them anymore and I'm down to my last dozen or so. Great hooks, needle sharp and rarely missed a bite or lost a fish on them (rarely lose fish on other hooks I use as well, but anything that gives me more confidence when fishing gets a place in my tackle box).
It was a bit fiddly to bait up on the mark, so I used to make up clip on snoods (should've marketed that before Tony Caton at Gemini thought of it), bait them up at home with squid/black lug and freeze them. I would then take them fishing in a flask to keep them frozen untill required.

Not the same hook by any means but would something like This be of any use to you?
