I have some Cortland Spectron on my 6501c3 and my Emblem B/pit reel. It's good strong gear and I have no worries where deadbaiting is concerned. I just wonder about the lure fishing applications. It started off as moss green but its fading slowly but surely.
Is the colour of you lure fishing line that important? It seems petty visible to me but I'm looking down at it against a dark background. I assume the fish see against the sky. Do the Pike care what colour you line is? Do you feel more confident using a dark/light line? Does anyone dye thier braid? You get my drift. I'm just curious. -------------------- "I envy not him that eats better meat than I do, nor him that is richer, or that wears better clothes than I do. The stuff I use is bright light blue! If a pike is looking up, as pike do, then I reckon that is a good colour. If a pike is looking down, as pike don't, light blue must stand out like a sore thumb. If a pike is coming from the side, as they often do, then best ask a pike, I haven't a clue!! You can always felt tip the last 6 to 10 feet of your line if you want it dark again. Would guess that grey is a good compromise, like well worn Fireline.

Because, be warned, HPPE Spectra and Dyneema braids are not immortal, despite what some marketing companies would have you believe. You can't dye HPPE so the colour is applied as a surface pigment and this wears-off in quite a short time. As for colour when lure-fishing .... don't worry abart itt! I know far better anglers than me that swear by bright yellow Fireline so I wouldn't worry.

Hmm..yea I've used Daiwa Tourmament line (high vis yellow) and it didn't do the lure fishing much harm.
I'm probably worrying for no reason. Cheers men. -------------------- "I envy not him that eats better meat than I do, nor him that is richer, or that wears better clothes than I do. I envy nobody but him, and him only, that catches more fish than I do"

If anything they reckon it's easier to spot takes because the line is more visible where it enters the water.

You will never catch a 30 Andy unless you sit down with a couple of diferrent colour felt tips and colour your braid camoflage.....thats for deep diving lures of course. For surface lures you will have to colour your braid blue and white to represent clouds, err then again in Scotland maybe a grey colour would be better!Never found it to make a difference mate they all fade.
