Went out for my dream fishing in florida and the red tide destroyed the dream somewhat!!
Although i managed to get in amongst the fish in my last days out there, snagging one 7lb red which had the heart of a salmon and the speed to match! this algae bloom which they call the red tide totally wiped out the fish in the area and it was heart breaking to see. I walked down the beach and there was thousands of dead fish on the beach, and i am not making this up. I will be fishing florida again someday but NEVER in an area that can be affected by red tide,It was heartbreking to see. |

Too late now but you can track them using
http://www.floridamarine.org/features/view...cle.asp?id=9670 Sorry your timing was unfortunate. Not much fun when Karenia brevis bloom is at it's peak. -------------------- "Democracy dies when the people wanting their government to take care of them outnumber those wanting to take care of themselves." - Author Unknown - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For a selection of lures, reels and other items, visit my eBay shop http://stores.ebay.com/JaNewt-eMart |

QUOTE christian kimber: Unfortunatley the red tide can strike anywhere. I have seen the same here in Scotland and in Wales.Went out for my dream fishing in florida and the red tide destroyed the dream somewhat!! I believe it is caused by to many nutrients in the sea caused by farming (nitrates) and human effluent. -------------------- member of Save Our Sharks www.save-our-sharks.org

We still caught and i hooked some nice fish but lost them due to my inexperience. As we left the fish moved back in as the red tide was blown offshore!!! |

You might want to ask Salar about possibilities further up the East Coast than Florida. Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina all have some good sport and plenty of good charter vessels to choose from if you want a guided trip.
