Well now is the time to see if mr Bradshaw means business. Is his ban lip service or will these poachers be up in court. I await news of the outcome.

How about hitting all the local restaurents with emails about what is happening? Asking them not to buy trawl caught bass, surely there is enough farm caught bass on the market?

I know some restaurents here have refused to buy cod.

Strong but true words about nfsa at the bottom of that article. I have phoned them on numerous occasions in the past. You get lip service from thier secratary and noboddy ever phones you back. They need to become more proactive or hand over thier role (and funding) to someone more capable of doing the job (yes I am a member).

I've given up drinking Scotch whisky (actually Irish whiskey isn't bad at all, and they don't allow commercial fishing for bass), and French wine (and the Australian and South American varieties are much better!), until they stop their boats pair trawling.

(Actually, I might just stick with the Irish and New World wines anyway. My palate has adapted and I now prefer them!)

The quality of farmed bass isn't as good as the wild (the quality of pair trawled is awful!).

What we should do is encourage restuarents only to buy from the sustainable hook caught bass fisheries. Down in the south west they are already starting their own carcass tagging scheme.

Its a lot of research, but if we could get a list of restaurents we could start emailing them all. do a town a month!!! Just a suggestion.

Has someboddy already started such work?

I have to agree with you there Winter...I was a member of the WFSA and found them to be an equally well funded waste of space! My money now goes to BASS and select other few.
