Hello, I've just returned to fishing after a break of several years, I live in Swindon, the shame is my friends don't fish. Was quite surprised at how much a Rod License is, the last time I brought one, was when you could buy them at the local Tackle shop.

Hello old chap, welcome back! I used to work saturdays in a tackle shop when sales of rod licenses switched to Post Offices. The owner was not a happy bunny and he was right - there was a marked dip in trade. You know what it's like in a tackle shop - you pop in for a licence and end up spending £50 on 'bits'!

Welcome Gareth. I'm in the same position as you mate, came back to fishing about 9 months ago and was totally amazed how much it had changed and how much it cost as well, but it's worth every penny and the guys here are really helpful. One little piece of advise is don't be drawn in to all these different bits of tackle, I originally bought loads and soon found that I didn't need half of it. The simple set ups are still the best.
