The scottish shore record as far as I remember was caught abou two years ago from Dunbar beach. Hardly a monster at 4lb 6oz or something like that, so there is scope to break the record if people were willing to really dedicate themselves to the species. As for marks, sorry but I dont really know of any, but I'd imagine baits ,rigs etc. would be the same as those used down south. If it helps, the dunbar fish was caught on a two hook flapper, baited with Mackerel strip.

Usualy just go as if i was targetting flounders, 2 an 3 hook flappers, short ish distance... mackeral strip. But they say hitting it out a wee bitty further is the key.. FF PM reply on its way soon mate...

Yeah Shaun, flapper traces seem to be the way to go with Turbot, helps to stop them from swallowing the hook too I would think.

Totally agree Shaun. I caught my first Turbot there too. They weren't any great size but very nice to catch.

I did find that a bit of distance made a huge difference as I never got a Turbot on the small rod close in - all Flounder on that one. On the flip side I never got any Turbot on the distance rod - just Turbot! As you say Mackerel strip seemed best.

I know this has all been covered already but I've typed it now biggrin.gif
