anglerus, stick to seaford/newhaven westside of beachyhead mate, water in eastbourne and hastings does'nt stay clear enough half the time......

We were catching quite a few mackerel from the shore in Jersey a few weeks ago but they seem to have disappeared offshore, gone further North at the moment.
It was 31 C this weekend smile.gif

We were catching Mackerel off the harbour wall Brighton on new years eve last year , only 6 months ago , so if they were there winter then surely there can only be more there now !!!!

From what I have seen on the net this summer has not been too good for Mackeral. Every time there are a few about we get some strong winds the water muddies up and they are off to the deeps. Even on the Admiralty it seems to be very patchy if the reports are to be believed.

Plenty from the boat on Saturday off eastern Isle of Wight. Water was quite clear as well. Spent sunday smoking mackeral fillets in industrial quantities and stocking the freezer, as hot smoked mackeral freezes well. Yum. had to stop family members nicking smoked fillets to nibble....
