Nice fish Ricey.

Keep the venue to yourself, or you won't be able to get near the water next week

Looks a shade over 2 lb to me. But you'll never know without scales. I'd be kicking myself if I landed a PB without scales. I'd always be wondering...
Great fish. Well done.
PS: I agree with the advice on keeping the venue to yourself. Perch are even more susceptible to pressure than pike. Once they're deep-hooked, they'll probably end up dead - and perch do swallow baits readily, even lures.

Yes, I'd agree with that. Perhaps more than a shade.

Assuming Ricey has a normal sized fist, measuring three-and-a-half inches across the knuckles, measurements from the photo make the fish a shade over 18" long.

It looks in "average" condition, neither very thin nor very fat, with girth about 11" or perhaps slightly more.

The "standard" formula of girth squared times
length (both in inches) divided by 800 gives the sum 11 X 11 X 18/800 which comes out to a weight of 2.72 (in pounds).

Given that my estimate of girth is a bit on the mean side, I think Ricey could fairly claim his perch to be about "two and three quarters"

I have known a "fat" perch of 18" just make three pounds.

Not only is Ricey's perch a nice-sized fish, it is a handsome fish, and a nice picture too. Well done mate.

caught it from the River Chelmer in Chelmsford. up near Broomfield.

I float fished a juicey worm just off the bottom, it was an amazing fight!

2.75lb you say! well that would make me very happy!

Lovely fish ricey and it looks a shade bigger than 2lb to me too. I never get tired of catching perch. Even on the days that I target pike I reserve a bit of the early morning for perch. Handsome fish considering it came from a little Essex river that wouldnt be first choice for specimen perch. Well done.
