How long before a session should you defrost deadbaits for should you take them frozen to the bank ?

Cheers

Always take mine frozen in an insulated container with ice packs to keep them that way.
Frozen Sardines are much easier to set up and cast any distance

Agree with Tony. A cheap insulated bag for frozen food is ideal, obtainable from supermarkets. The baits will defrost quick enough in the water

I carry enough deadbaits in one of the old
Fox boilie bag - www.fox-shop.com/catalogues-product...ue=1&section=13 smile.gif

But for a longer session which I do sometimes on a regualar basis I used one of the Fox Session Boilie Bag - www.fox-shop.com/catalogues-product...ue=1&section=13 smile.gif

And when I want a any sort of deadbait defrosted just drop it in the shallow marginal water for a few minutes and it will defrost the bait for a easy mounting on the treble hooks. smile.gif And if I want a frozen sardine which help to cast out better, just leave it as it came of the bag! smile.gif

I haven't found any cool bag to last very long. For me the solution is the super-tough Snowbee Cooler Box, that is just the right size. See my field test at anglers-net.co.uk/reviews/snowbee01.htm

Why use a frozen deadbait? Might just as well use a lure!! I mean, what is naturel about a frozen half fish laying on the bottom. A sink and draw soft plastic bait has got far more going for it!

Not always Peter; not always just like deads do not work all of the time and if Sunday is anything to go by, sometimes nothing you try works.

Hi,
I do most of my pike fishing at Loch Lomond and Use a coolbag to try and keep the bait frozen as long as possible. Even though it defrosts it still says fresher longer. I Agree with Tony U, In that it is easier to put frozen Sardines onto your trace's. But i like to defrost Smelt before using that.

regards

Jammy Johnny.

I buy my freezer bags for £1.00 each at the cash & carry, so don't really care how long they last.
I find cooler boxes too bulky and when I go deadbaiting I have enough to carry!!

Perhaps I should have mentioned that the Snowbee cooler box is very much smaller than usual, being about the size of a boilie cooler bag, and has a shoulder strap.
