Hi All,
most months Sea Angler magazine give away some line or hooks etc, next month they are giving away some straps so you can strap your rod to the hand rail on a boat. These give aways are only for the UK due to the postage.
My question is, if you get these straps from sea angler and just can't or don't need them, will you send them to me please? I will pay the postage (in euroes, sorry) and can use four of them.
I can buy these straps over here but I want the Sea Angler name on mine. smile.gif

Tight lines

Alan?
Why don`t you make your own? They`re only a peice of webbing with some velcro inside!!
But a peice of nylon webbing about 6ins wide by 12ins long? Cut the 12ins strip into 3 x 2 ins strips? Fasten velcro on side? 6ins on one side plus 6ins on the other side side?
Cast your rod and wrap the webbing around to keep attached to the boat rail?
This was a much simpler Idea before I went back to the pub for dinner with the Fire Brigade?
Paul.

Another thought Alan.
These wrap around the rails, then round the rod. Were first brought to my attention about 18months ago by Dave Bond. Skipper of `Mystique` in Looe. His wife was making them at home. He wanted a price to charge?
The actual design is dead simple. You just need a good lady to stitch all the velcro onto a canvass webbing backing?
I`ve been trying to find a manufacturer of 4ins wide velco? The rest is easy.
Paul.

But I keep asking myself "is velcro tuff enuff to stop a 600 pound+ Porgie in her tracks"? Strong rope and some of them fast release clips that climbers use, for me. biggrin.gif

Hi Paul, I have had a subscription to SA for a couple of years now, if you look at the fine print these goodies are for the UK ONLY
From a previous post on this topic I understand that S.Ireland is not classed as the UK for there goodies. I am thinking distance not politics here.
I would have thought that with all the advertising revenue they get as well as the interest on our subscriptions (multiply 31 pounds 20 by the number of regular subscriptions then the interest in a high interest account).
When you take out the advertising, ALL the pictures of fish sent in, all the reports sent in to SA, it does not leave a lot that is done and paid for by Sea Angler.
As for making my own, I could do that without a problem but I WANT the Sea Angler ones.

Alan!!!
Got my free gift and mag` today.
Guess what? The 2 free wrap around velcro rod holders are less than useless!!!
I`ve tried them on my beach tripod in the back garden. They barely fit around the rod and tripod. They should be much longer. What`s the point of a rod tie if you have to search for the join before you can untie the rod?
If I tried to use them on a boat? No, way! They wouldn`t wrap around both the boat rail and my rod. Unless of course I wanted to go looking for the fixing point whils`t hoping the bite stayed there? How long does a rod tie have to be?
The diameter of the rail, plus the diameter of the rod, plus a couple of inches for a quick release pull off?
Well, the Sea Angler give aways are about 10ins long. Too short to leave something to grab for a quick release?
Mail me your address and I`ll send you my freebies free of charge. They`ll just not do the business?
 Paul.

Thanks Paul, I can unpick the labels which is what
